The Washington Post – Health & Science – By Meeri Kim – Published: October 19 – In case you need any more science-supported reason to let yourself linger in bed longer, or, you are an overachieving A-type person, you need to be arm-twisted into considering that ample sleep is a no-brainer (ha!) for your mental health.  A Washington Post article titled “Brains Flush Toxic Waste in Sleep” will change your thoughts about sleep.

It’s not news that we need good sleep, lots of it, to feel good, function well and support processing memory.  This new study purports that while we sleep, brain cells shrink allowing fluids carrying toxic waist from the brain into the blood stream to be effectively cleansed by the ever-industrious liver to be eliminated.

So, unless you want plaque-of-the-brain (or, sadly, leading to a propensity to develop Alzheimer’s down the road) cozy up and find a way to sleep.
